Frieden verhandeln im Krieg: Russlands Krieg, Chancen auf Frieden und die Kunst des Verhandelns
Wars usually end at the negotiating table - there is a consensus on this point. But why is an end to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine so difficult to achieve? Which paths lead to the negotiation table with Russia? What challenges does this pose, especially for Ukraine as a victim of Russian aggression? And how can a peace treaty be negotiated that really works? Based on many years of research, Cindy Wittke and her co-author Mandy Ganske-Zapf discuss in “Frieden verhandeln im Krieg: Russlands Krieg, Chancen auf Frieden und die Kunst des Verhandelns” the conditions under which Ukraine and Russia could enter into negotiations and how this could lead to a lasting peace agreement.
This is the first German-language non-fiction book to deal with the challenges of peace negotiations in this war in a scientifically sound manner - and that makes it clear that the search for answers has become vital. For Ukraine, but also for Europe.
On January 16, 2025, author Cindy Wittke and Berlin-based international law expert Helmut Aust will discuss the challenges of international law and legal policy on the path to a peace agreement. The discussion will be moderated by Rike Krämer-Hoppe from the University of Regensburg.
